We need your help!

In our recent blog posts, we've written a lot about the sense of family that 4Life can bring into your life. We are particularly sensitive to this right now since we are living far away from home while serving our mission in Europe.

This week in the news, we all became aware of the devastation in Manila, Philippines. Tropical Storm Ketsana has caused severe flooding in many areas. At least 140 people are confirmed dead, with more than 170,000 families affected and almost 500,000 people displaced due to flooding. Much of the city is still under water, thousands are without power, and major roads are still impassible due to flooding and residual mud.

It is times such as these when the reality of having a 4Life family becomes very important. Many of our 4Life Philippines employees were affected by this disaster. Some of them lost their homes, cars, and all of their personal belongings. Several employees will literally be starting from scratch. Below is a picture of the car of one of the Philippines Finance department employees. We are also currently collecting information on the status of our 4Life distributors in the area.

On Monday, Foundation 4Life® sent an emergency first-response donation of $10,000 to Manila and we expect to participate more as the full impact of the storm reveals itself. Our offices in the region are working to raise money, provide clothing, and assist on a local level. Vice President of Southeast Asia Michael Seet and General Manager of 4Life Research Philippines R. Glenn Ortega are overseeing in-country relief and fundraising events.

If you suffered through the 2007 hurricanes in the Dominican Republic and Mexico, or even if you have experienced your own personal trials, you know how much it means to have 4Life friends all over the world sending their love and support.

If you are in a position to provide financial support to our 4Life distributors and employees in the Philippines, we encourage you to do so. Please visit www.foundation4life.org today to help make an immediate difference in the lives of people desperately in need of our help. This is where Together, Building People® truly comes to fruition. We can offer our help as a company, but it is together that we can make the most difference in the lives of the people in the Philippines.

Thank you, in advance, for your generous support. We're so glad you're part of the 4Life family!

Million-Dollar-Hole-in-One

Recently, we learned about a million-dollar-hole-in-one shot that was made at the Mark Eaton Celebrity Golf Classic tournament in Heber, Utah. Why is it that we all love stories such as this? Perhaps it's because even though the chances of winning aren't very high, those "long shots" are still possible. It's this same type of belief that keeps us going after our dreams. When we see others beat the odds it helps keep the dream alive in all of us, doesn't it? What's even more amazing about that story is that the golfer who made the winning putt almost didn't play in the tournament because of a sore wrist!

Many of you know that 4Life has offered a million-dollar-hole-in-one for the past four years at the Champions Challenge golf tournament held in Thanksgiving Point, Utah. This same tournament will be held October 12–13, in conjunction with our Powered by Platinums Leadership Conference. We are really excited at the thought that someone might make the lucky million-dollar shot this year. The great thing about the 4Life opportunity is that it doesn't take luck to turn your dreams into reality. The 4Life products and opportunity are so fantastic that everyone can be a winner when they partner with 4Life to make their dreams come true. At the Leadership Conference, we will hear from Platinum International Diamonds who have done this very thing. We truly wish we could be in attendance. Hopefully, we'll hear that someone at the Champions Challenge golf tournament has won the 4Life million-dollar-hole-in-one!

Another secret ingredient for fantastic health

In the past, we have quoted passages from Outliers: The Story of Success by Malcolm Gladwell. Gladwell tells the story of an extraordinary community in New England whose inhabitants—a community of closely knit Italian immigrant families—enjoyed exceptional physical and mental health for several generations. At first, scientists looked at different aspects of their diet, convinced that there must be a secret ingredient or an omission of something that was contributing to their great health. Although the community members had good dietary habits, scientists did not feel that this was the reason.

So, they looked at exercise and environment next, and came to the same conclusion as before. After looking more closely, scientists determined that the biggest factor contributing to the group's overall well-being was the strong sense of family and community that existed between them. They watched out for one another and one another's children. In the evenings, they sat on their porches and talked to one another. They had a wonderful support group that helped them deal with the stresses of life. They truly were family!

As great as 4Life Transfer Factor® is for our bodies, we also have something else to offer that is equally nourishing. And that is the sense of community and family we feel amongst our 4Life family members. Although we can't sit on our porches and chat each evening, we can connect through meetings, conference calls, e-mails, blogs, and conventions. This is a people business and any way we can connect with and support one another is a great strength to all of us. This sense of family and community is a powerful influence that can greatly contribute to our overall mental and physical health.

You Belong at 4Life!

Last week we mentioned that we are in Italy serving a mission for our church. One of the main projects we are working on is establishing a center for young people. The center will be a place that they can come to during certain hours to socialize and strengthen one another through wholesome recreational activities. Last week a young man walking home from work happened upon the center and joined us. He played games with some of the young adults here and had refreshments with us. He said that he had just moved into the area and was looking for some friends.

I thought about how everyone in the world needs friends. One of the things we love so much about 4Life is that we share a sense of family—each of us can make friends all over the world. We know we all belong to something greater than any one of us individually. Isn't that one of the best things about being a member of the 4Life family?

Whether you are the CEO of a company or a new distributor, everyone needs good friends! We are so grateful to have 4Life friends all over the world. We hope you feel that way, too!

Stay connected through technology

As many of you know, we are living in Italy right now. We are enjoying wonderful experiences as we help establish a center in Milan for young adults as a place of refuge, inspiration, and wholesome fun. It is going very well. Through the amazing benefits of modern technology, it has been possible for us to stay connected with everyone at 4Life on a daily basis.

Are you taking advantage of this in your business? If you are someone who feels somewhat insecure about your technology IQ, we encourage you to ask one of your children, grandchildren, or another family member to help you. There are so many little things that really are not that hard to learn—e-mailing, texting, and even blogging—that can help you keep connected with people in your 4Life organization all over the world.

Technology can also be a great benefit in your prospecting efforts. Isn't it great that you can talk with someone new for even just a few minutes about 4Life Transfer Factor® and the Life Rewards Plan, and then say that you would be happy to follow up by sending a link to the 4Life website or e-mailing 4Life marketing materials? We even have the Summit magazine online, as well as so many other resources to help you succeed.

Of course, nothing could ever replace the human touch, but technology helps us make that touch reach further and further around the world!
